BOY SCOUT ADVANCEMENT NEWS

Our district advancement web page, http://mad-bsa.org/advancement/, has links useful for Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Venturer advancement. The latest Merit Badge Counselor list is dated August 29, 2009 – if you would like a copy, please email Bruce Wentworth (bruce@wenthome.com), identifying your troop affiliation.

We are looking for experienced troop Eagle advisors able and willing to serve as Eagle advisors on the district advancement committee. If you can recommend anyone for this critical district function, please contact advancement chairman Gene McDermott at genemcdermott@aol.com.

LEADERSHIP TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES

Leadership training is key to providing a quality program – every scout deserves a trained leader! Our district training web page (http://wenthome.com/training/) lists upcoming training opportunities in our area.

BSA National has released the on-line course “This is Scouting”, which replaces the classroom course New Leader Essentials as the introduction to the Basic Adult Leader training track.  You may access this new training from the e-learning section of the MyScouting web site, http://MyScouting.org/.
