BOY SCOUT ADVANCEMENT NEWS

Our district advancement web page, http://mad-bsa.org/advancement/, has links useful for Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Venturer advancement. The latest list of Mercer Area District merit badge counselors is dated August 28, 2010 – if you would like a copy, please email Bruce Wentworth (bruce@wenthome.com), identifying your troop affiliation.

NEW ONLINE TRAINING AVAILABLE

BSA National has just released a new on-line course called “This is Scouting”.  It has replaced the classroom course New Leader Essentials, which served as the introduction to the Basic Adult Leader training track.  You may access this new training from the e-learning section of the MyScouting web site, http://MyScouting.org/.

Please also note that our district training web page (http://wenthome.com/training/) provides a training overview and lists upcoming training opportunities in our area.

UNIT COMMISSIONER RECRUITMENT DRIVE

Your District needs your help!  We need more Unit Commissioners, who's job is to visit units and help them deliver a quality program.   Please consider nominating a qualified person from your unit.  Former unit leaders with program experience are good candidates.  The more Unit Commissioners we have in our district, the more each unit will get the help and support they need.  If you have someone you would like to nominate, please email their name and contact information to commissioner@mad-bsa.org.
